A charity that provides financial support for young people in Devon

Criteria for Application

Applications are invited from, or on behalf of, young people under the age of 25, whose normal place of residence for the last 12 months is within Devon.

(Applications will not be accepted if the young person (a) will have reached the age of 25 when their application is considered, or (b) is living temporarily in Devon, whilst studying, for example.)

We are also happy to receive applications from charities and groups for projects which will improve the lives of under 25-year-olds who reside in Devon.

Where grants are awarded, they are usually limited to £500. Most grants range from between £100 to £500.

Grants are limited to a maximum of three per individual. (There is no limit to the number of grants that may be awarded to charities and groups.)

School Fees and Boarding Fees – Only in exceptional cases can the Trustees consider a small contribution to school or boarding fees. However, the Trustees are prepared to consider applications for assistance towards the cost of school uniforms, school trips, travel, etc. When submitting your application, you must include proof that you have paid (or can pay) the school/boarding fees.

Degree Courses – No assistance is available for the payment of University fees. However, the Trustees are prepared to consider applications for assistance towards the purchase of books, equipment, laptops, expeditions, travel, etc. In some cases, the Trustees may consider a small grant to assist with living costs.

Second or Higher Degree Courses – Assistance for those embarking on a second or higher degree course is normally not given. In exceptional cases the Trustees may consider a small grant to assist with living costs or the purchase of books or equipment etc. No assistance is available for the payment of University fees.

Grants are made to contribute towards:

Helping young people by developing their skills, capacities and capabilities, to enable them to advance in life and take part in society as independent, mature and responsible individuals;

Advancing education;

Providing recreational and leisure time activity in the interests of social welfare, for people who have need by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disability, poverty, or social and economic circumstances, with a view to improving conditions of life for those people.
